I love my wired earphones
Untangling it every single time is an meditative experience
A practice of zen
An opportunity to turn a mundane task into an exploration
I love that it never needs to be charged
Aren't the modern appliances all about convenience?
But how convenient is it to keep track of all the charge percentages - smartphone, smartwatch, smart-this, smart-that?
I will keep loving my wired earphones
For that it never asks to be charged
It just exists.
Wherever I keep. Mostly. Almost always tangled.
Always ready to serve.
Plug in.
Voila, it's ready to use
And it is connected only to the device that is plugged into.
No need to keep track of which device it is connected to.
How convenient is that.
No ambiguity. No deception.
Just unplug and plug in where it's desired.
Voila, no state of confusion.
Wouldn't it be nice to have this clarity everywhere and in everything?
One might say, 'hey but wireless affords so much flexibility'.
The flexibility of remaining connected while being at a distance.
Distance removes lots of constraints.
One can move more freely.
Is it just a metaphor of how we want our connections to be? Remain distant but stay connected (always)
I love you my wired earphones.
You might appear as a tangled mess.
Just a physical manifestation.
But I hardly need to worry about what's your internal state of being.
How charged you are? Or who you are really connected to?
With your wireless 'smart' counterparts.
It's just a guess game most of the times.
I just wish everyone and everything is as simple and straightforward as you are?
I think your lack of complexity is the realest smartness.
I love you for that. Always.
